Betaloc 50 Tablet 20 is used in adults to manage high blood pressure, angina and irregular heartbeats, to reduce the risk of death after a heart attack, and to prevent migraines.

Uses of Betaloc 50 Tablet 20 are:

• High Blood Pressure: Helps lower and control blood pressure.
• Angina and Irregular Heartbeats: Helps manage chest pain and control irregular heart rhythms.
• Post-Heart Attack Care: Helps reduce the risk of death after a heart attack in stable patients.
• Migraine and Overactive Thyroid: Helps prevent migraines and control a rapid heart rate and tremors in an overactive thyroid.

Follow these instructions while taking Betaloc 50 Tablet 20:

• Take the tablet with or immediately after meals to reduce stomach upset.

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Take this medicine at the same time each day for the best results.

• Do not crush or chew the tablet.

• Continue taking this medicine even when you feel well.

Betaloc 50 Tablet 20 is taken orally.

Betaloc 50 Tablet 20 contains metoprolol tartrate (50 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Blocks beta-1 receptors: Metoprolol selectively blocks beta-1 adrenergic receptors found primarily in cardiac tissue, preventing the binding of chemicals like adrenaline and noradrenaline that normally increase heart rate and force of contraction.

• Reduces cardiac output: By decreasing both heart rate and contractility (the force with which your heart pumps), metoprolol lowers the amount of blood pumped by your heart, which helps reduce blood pressure.

• Decreases sympathetic nervous system activity: It reduces signals from your brain's vasomotor centres (areas that control blood vessel diameter) to your blood vessels, helping them relax and widen.

• Improves oxygen supply-demand balance: In patients with angina, it reduces the heart's workload and oxygen consumption, helping relieve chest pain by creating a better balance between oxygen supply and demand.

• Store Betaloc 50 Tablet 20 in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

• Keep at room temperature below 30°C.

• Protect from moisture and humidity; avoid bathroom medicine cabinets.

• Keep out of reach of children and pets.

• Check the expiry date, and do not use it after this date.

• Maintain in original packaging until ready for use.

• Reduce your salt intake in the diet, as excess sodium can worsen high blood pressure (hypertension), making your medication less effective and placing extra strain on your heart.

• Engage in regular, moderate exercise like brisk walking for 30 minutes most days, as this helps lower blood pressure naturally and improves how well your heart works.
