CompositionStemetil Injection is used to control severe nausea and vomiting, including that linked to migraine and to balance disorders (vertigo) such as Meniere's disease, and it is used in the management of certain mental health conditions.
It contains prochlorperazine, a phenothiazine. It works by blocking the signals in the brain that trigger nausea and by acting on brain chemicals involved in these conditions.
It is given as an injection by a doctor or nurse, who sets the dose.
Tell your doctor about any Parkinson's disease or neurological conditions before use. It can cause drowsiness and, sometimes, muscle stiffness or unusual movements; report any abnormal movements, restlessness or stiffness straight away.
