Composition

Dolutegravir (50 Mg) + Emtricitabine (200 Mg) + Tenofovir Alfenamide (25 Mg)

Spegra Tablet is used to treat HIV-1 infection in adults and children as a complete antiretroviral regimen, helping to reduce the viral load and restore and maintain immune function.

It contains dolutegravir, emtricitabine and tenofovir alafenamide (DTG/FTC/TAF). Take it as prescribed, once daily; do not stop or change doses without medical advice.

Keeping to all monitoring appointments for viral load, CD4 count, kidney function and bone health supports safe treatment alongside this medicine.

Tell your doctor about any hepatitis B co-infection before starting; stopping this medicine can cause severe hepatitis B flares. Report any unusual muscle pain, weakness, difficulty breathing or abdominal pain.

Spegra Tablet is used to treat HIV-1 infection in adults and children as a complete antiretroviral regimen, reducing viral load and restoring immune function.

Uses of Spegra Tablet are:

HIV-1 Treatment: Treats HIV-1 infection as a complete antiretroviral regimen.
Viral Load Reduction: Helps reduce the amount of HIV in the blood.
Immune Restoration: Helps restore and maintain immune function.

Take this tablet with or without food.
Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew it.
Always follow your doctor’s prescribed dosage instructions.

Spegra Tablet is taken orally.

Spegra Tablet may cause some side effects that are usually mild and go away as your body adjusts to the medicine.

A few common side effects of Spegra Tablet:

Neurological: Headache and fatigue. Resting and keeping well hydrated can help with headaches.
Digestive: Feeling sick (nausea), loose motions (diarrhoea) and abdominal pain. Taking small sips of water and eating plain, simple food can help ease nausea.

Management Of Side Effects:

Headache: Stay hydrated and rest in case of headache.
Nausea: Take the tablet with food to prevent nausea.
Diarrhea: Stay hydrated by drinking fluids.

Spegra Tablet works by combining three components:

Dolutegravir (50 mg): It inhibits the action of integrase, an enzyme essential for the HIV virus to multiply and spread. By blocking this enzyme, it prevents the virus from integrating its genetic material into healthy human cells.
Emtricitabine (200 mg): A reverse transcriptase inhibitor, Emtricitabine blocks the enzyme that HIV uses to convert its RNA into DNA. This prevents the virus from creating new copies of itself.
Tenofovir Alafenamide (25 mg): It hinders the virus's ability to incorporate itself into healthy cells, effectively stopping the spread of HIV in the body.

Pregnancy

Spegra Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy unless deemed essential by a healthcare provider, as some components may harm the developing baby.

Breastfeeding

Avoid breastfeeding while taking Spegra Tablet due to the risk of passing this medication to the baby through breast milk.

Alcohol

Avoid alcohol while taking Spegra Tablet, as it may exacerbate side effects like nausea or dizziness.

Liver

Use Spegra Tablet cautiously if you have existing liver disease, including hepatitis B or C. Regular liver function tests may be required. Your doctor will guide you based on your health status.

Kidney

This tablet is not recommended for individuals with severe renal impairment. Inform your doctor before this tablet is prescribed to you.

Use In Driving And Operating Machinery

Antiarrhythmic such as Dofetilide: Spegra Tablet is contraindicated with dofetilide due to the risk of severe side effects, such as life-threatening arrhythmias.
Antibiotics such as Rifampin: This medicine can reduce the effectiveness of dolutegravir by lowering its concentration in the blood.
