Risofos 150 Tablet 1 is used to manage osteoporosis.

Uses of Risofos 150 Tablet 1 are:

• Osteoporosis: Manages and helps prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and in men, including that caused by long-term corticosteroid use.
• Paget's Disease of Bone: Treats this disorder, which leads to abnormally large and fragile bones.

Here are some instructions on how to take Risofos 150 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush or chew the tablet.

• Stay upright (sitting or standing) for at least 30 minutes after taking this medicine.

Risofos 150 Tablet is taken orally.

Risofos 150 Tablet contains Risedronate (150 mg) and acts on your body as follows:

• Binds to Bone Surface: Risedronate attaches itself to the surface of your bones. This action is important as it enables the medicine to directly impact the bone tissue.

• Inhibits Osteoclast Activity: Once attached to the bone, Risedronate hampers the functioning of osteoclasts, cells that are responsible for breaking down bone tissue.

• Reduces Bone Resorption: By inhibiting osteoclast activity, Risedronate slows down the process of bone resorption, leading to a decrease in the breakdown of bones.

• Increases Bone Density: With reduced bone resorption, the body can create new bone tissue at a faster rate than it is being broken down. This leads to an increase in overall bone density, strengthening the bones and reducing the risk of fractures.

• Store Risofos 150 Tablet at room temperature, ideally below 25°C.

• Protect from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture.

• Maintain the medication in its original packaging until it's time to take it.

• Always keep this medicine out of the reach of children.

• Make sure to use Risofos 150 Tablet before the expiry date mentioned on the pack.

• Ensure you maintain a diet rich in calcium and vitamin D. Foods high in calcium include dairy products like milk and cheese, green leafy vegetables, soya beans, tofu, nuts, and fish like sardines and pilchards. Vitamin D can be found in fatty fish like tuna, mackerel, and salmon, cheese, egg yolks, and foods fortified with vitamin D such as some dairy products and cereals.

• Engage in weight-bearing exercises regularly. These include activities like walking, dancing or lifting weights which work against gravity to help strengthen your bones. Consult your doctor for appropriate exercises based on your health condition.
