CompositionProvanol SR 40 Tablet is used to control high blood pressure and manage angina (chest pain). It is a single-ingredient non-selective beta-blocker containing propranolol.
It is also used to treat certain heart rhythm disorders, reduce the physical symptoms of anxiety and tremor, help prevent migraine and lower the risk of a further heart attack. Swallow the tablet whole without chewing or crushing it, at the same time each day, in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop it suddenly, as this can worsen your condition.
Cut down on salt, including pickles, papad and packaged snacks, stay active within your doctor's advice and attend all monitoring appointments.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have asthma or COPD, diabetes, a very slow heart rate or Raynaud's disease, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Propranolol is not suitable for people with asthma or COPD. Report worsening breathlessness, marked dizziness or unusually cold hands and feet. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
