Prazopill XL 5 Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It is a single-ingredient alpha-blocker containing prazosin.
This medicine is also used to manage heart failure and to ease urinary symptoms in men with an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH). Take the extended-release tablet with or without food in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor. Take the first dose at bedtime, as this medicine can cause dizziness when treatment starts.
Rise slowly from a sitting or lying position, especially in the first few days or after a dose increase. Cut down on salt from pickles, papad and packaged snacks, and limit alcohol, which can add to dizziness.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you are due for eye surgery, as prazosin can affect the pupil during cataract surgery, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Report fainting or severe dizziness promptly. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
