CompositionNFTOR 100 MG Tablet 10 is used to treat and prevent bacterial urinary tract infections (UTIs), including cystitis, and kidney infections caused by susceptible organisms such as E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella, and Enterobacter. It is also used as a preventive medicine in patients prone to recurrent UTIs.
It contains nitrofurantoin 100 mg, a urinary antiseptic that works by concentrating rapidly in the urine, where it damages bacterial genetic material, preventing bacteria from replicating and causing infection to spread. Its urinary-specific action makes it particularly effective for lower urinary tract infections.
Take the tablet with food or milk to reduce nausea and improve absorption. Complete the full prescribed course. Do not take it if you have significant kidney impairment, as reduced urinary excretion will diminish its effectiveness and increase the risk of side effects.
Nausea and dark-coloured urine are common effects. Dark yellow or brown urine is harmless and due to the medicine itself. Tell your doctor about any kidney problems, vitamin B deficiency, or if you are in the last trimester of pregnancy before starting.
