CompositionMTX 7.5mg Tablet is used to manage rheumatoid arthritis and severe psoriasis by calming the overactive immune response, and, at higher doses under specialist care, to treat certain cancers.
It contains methotrexate. It works by slowing the rapid growth of cells involved in inflammation, skin overgrowth or, at higher doses, cancer.
For arthritis and psoriasis, it is taken ONCE A WEEK, not every day; taking it daily by mistake can be dangerous. Your doctor will tell you which day, and often prescribes a folic acid tablet on a different day. Regular blood tests check your blood counts, liver and kidneys.
Tell your doctor about all other medicines, including over-the-counter painkillers, as some interact. It must not be used in pregnancy and both partners should avoid conception during and for a time after treatment. Report a sore throat, fever, mouth ulcers, unusual bruising, breathlessness or a dry cough.
