About Montek Lc 10/5 MG Tablet 10

Montek LC tablet is a combination drug intended to treat asthma, seasonal allergies, and other respiratory conditions. Montek LC composition includes two active ingredients: Montelukast sodium and Levocetirizine Hydrochloride. Montelukast belongs to a drug class called leukotriene receptor antagonists, which blocks the action of leukotrienes, chemicals that cause inflammation and swelling in the airways. Levocetirizine is an antihistamine that works by blocking the effects of histamine, a chemical released in response to an allergen.

Montek LC tablet is available by prescription and should only be taken under the supervision of a doctor. Montek LC prevents asthma symptoms, allergic rhinitis and skin allergies. Montek LC for dry cough is not the first-line treatment. Dry cough can have many causes, such as viral infections, bacterial infections, allergies, or irritants. So a doctor can recommend Montek LC for dry cough only after examining the underlying cause.

The Montek LC is available in tablet form and is typically taken once daily. Montek LC tablet composition includes 10 mg of Montelukast and 5 mg of Levocetirizine. While Montek 10 mg contains 10 mg of Montelukast sodium salt and is used to prevent asthma symptoms and allergic reactions. Montek 5 mg are chewable tablets for kids, contain 5 mg of Montelukast sodium salt and are used to treat bronchospasm in children.

Follow your doctor's instructions when taking Montek LC, as dosages vary with age and medical conditions such as liver, heart or kidney disease. While giving Montek LC to your child, follow the paediatrician's instructions carefully, as dosages may vary depending on the child’s medical history.

Medicine Activity

How Montek Lc 10/5 MG Tablet 10 Works

  • Montek LC interacts with target receptors in blood to reduce inflammation and allergic reactions. Montelukast, an active ingredient in Montek LC tablets, works by blocking the action of leukotrienes. The body produces leukotrienes responding to allergens such as pollen, dust mites, or pet dander. These chemicals cause inflammation and swelling in the airways of the lungs. In people with Asthma and Allergic Rhinitis, leukotrienes cause the airways to get inflamed and narrow, making breathing difficult. Montelukast blocks the action of leukotrienes to relieve inflammation in the airways, making it comfortable for people with Asthma and Allergic Rhinitis to breathe.
  • The other active ingredient in Montek LC tablets is Levocetirizine which works by blocking the effects of histamine, a chemical released by the body during an allergic reaction. Histamine causes sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, itching, and watery eyes. Montelukast blocks the effects of histamine to reduce these symptoms.
  • Montelukast and Levocetirizine provide a dual-action approach to treat the symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis and Asthma.

Uses of Montek Lc 10/5 MG Tablet 10

Montek LC tablet uses are as follows:

Treating Seasonal allergies such as Allergic Rhinitis

Montek LC can effectively manage the symptoms of runny nose and sneezing in seasonal allergies such as Allergic Rhinitis. Allergic Rhinitis or Hay fever is the allergic condition that occurs when our body's immune system comes in contact with allergens such as pollen, dust, or pet dander. Our immune system produces an antibody called immunoglobulin E (IgE), which triggers the release of a chemical called histamine in the body. It causes sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, watery eyes, and itching in the eyes, nose or throat.

When these symptoms start interfering with your daily activities, taking a Montek LC tablet after consultation with your doctor is better.

Controlling the symptoms of respiratory conditions such as Asthma

Montek LC can prevent asthma symptoms. Asthma is a chronic lung condition that causes the airways in the lungs to be inflamed. People with Asthma are sensitive to specific triggers, such as allergens, exercise, cold air, and respiratory infections. When the airways are exposed to these triggers, they narrow, making breathing difficult. People with Asthma also experience chest tightening, coughing and shortness of breath. Montek LC relaxes the respiratory pathways to make breathing easier.

Treating skin allergies such as Hives and Eczema

Montek LC effectively manages skin inflammation and itching in hives and Eczema. Extreme temperatures or eating allergic foods can flare up hives and Eczema. Montek LC can reduce the swelling, redness, rash, pain or itchiness in the skin caused by an irritant.
