Indomethacin works by blocking enzymes involved in producing prostaglandins, substances in the body that cause pain, swelling and inflammation, providing symptomatic relief without changing the underlying disease process. It is also effective in relieving pain and reducing fever, swelling and tenderness in acute gouty arthritis.
Take this sustained-release capsule with food to reduce stomach irritation, at the dose and frequency your doctor prescribes, and continue for the entire duration prescribed for optimal results.
Tell your doctor if you have stomach ulcers, heart disease or kidney problems, as this medicine needs caution in these conditions. Report any black or tarry stools, persistent stomach pain, or unusual bruising, and avoid taking other NSAIDs or aspirin at the same time.
