Levera Injection is used as an alternative when oral levetiracetam is temporarily not feasible for patients with epilepsy, providing the same seizure control as oral levetiracetam through the intravenous route.
It contains levetiracetam 100mg/ml, given as a slow intravenous infusion by a healthcare professional. Its low risk of drug interactions makes it suitable for complex cases involving multiple medicines.
Monitoring for seizure frequency, mood and behaviour changes, and kidney function tests are standard parts of care. Any suicidal thoughts or unusual behaviour must be reported promptly.
Before receiving this injection, tell the team about any kidney disease (dose adjustment may be required) and all other antiepileptic medicines.
