Istavel 50 mg Tablet is used in:

• Management of type 2 diabetes in adults

• Swallow the entire tablet without crushing or breaking it. 
• Take it with or without food, but it is recommended at a fixed daily time for better results.

Istavel 50 mg Tablet is taken orally.

Istavel 50 mg Tablet contains the following component:

• Sitagliptin (50 mg): It is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. It works by obstructing an enzyme called DPP-4, which typically breaks down incretin hormones in the body. When DPP-4 is blocked, it allows particular hormones like GLP-1 to stick around longer. These hormones help in two ways: they make your pancreas release more insulin (a sugar-controlling hormone) and reduce glucagon production (a sugar-raising hormone). More insulin in your body means better control of your blood sugar levels. By having more insulin and less glucagon, your body can manage your blood sugar more effectively, helping keep it healthy.
