IMALEK 400 Tablet 10 is used in adults to treat certain cancers, including some types of leukaemia and gastrointestinal stromal tumours, by slowing the growth of cancer cells.

• Blood Cancers: Used to treat certain leukaemias, where there is an abnormal increase in white blood cells.
• Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumours (GIST): Used to control a rare cancer affecting the stomach and intestines.
• Slowing Cancer Growth: Helps slow or halt the progression of these cancers.

IMALEK 400 Tablet 10 contains Imatinib mesylate (400 mg), which works in your body as follows:

• Tyrosine Kinase inhibition: Imatinib mesylate inhibits specific protein kinases, enzymes that help cells grow and multiply. By inhibiting these kinases, it helps manage abnormal cellular proliferation, slowing down or stopping the progression of certain types of cancer.
• Blocking bcr-abl fusion protein: Imatinib mesylate selectively blocks a protein called bcr-abl fusion protein, which is overactive in some leukaemia cells.
• Inhibiting PDGF and SCF receptors: The medicine also inhibits the receptor tyrosine kinases for platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) and stem cell factor (SCF), c-Kit. This action helps control cellular events mediated by these receptors, further aiding in the management of certain cancers.
