Histabil Tablet 10

Histabil Tablet is used for the following:

• Managing symptoms of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, a condition characterised by nasal congestion and eye irritation due to allergies.

• Reducing the discomfort caused by perennial allergic rhinitis, a year-round allergy resulting in sneezing, runny nose, and itchy eyes.

• Controlling the symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis, an allergy that occurs at specific times of the year causing sneezing, congestion, and red/itchy/watery eyes.

• Alleviating the symptoms of urticaria (hives), including itching and the size and number of hives on the skin.

When using Histabil Tablet, follow these instructions:

• Follow the dosage and timing instructions provided by your doctor precisely.

• Do not change or exceed the prescribed dose without consulting your doctor.

• Consult your doctor before discontinuing the medication; do not stop taking it without their guidance.

• Adhere to the dietary recommendations given by your doctor.

Histabil Tablet is taken orally.

Histabil Tablet contains a single active ingredient, bilastine (20 mg). Here's how it works:

• Selective Antagonism: Bilastine operates by selectively antagonising the histamine H1 receptor. In simpler terms, it blocks this receptor from interacting with histamine, a natural substance produced during an allergic reaction.

• Symptom Reduction: By preventing histamine from causing allergic symptoms such as sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, runny nose, and skin rash or hives, bilastine reduces these allergy signs.

• Non-Sedation: Unlike some other antihistamines, bilastine doesn't cross into your brain. This means it doesn't cause drowsiness—a common side effect with some antihistamines.

• Minimal Side Effects: Bilastine exhibits almost no affinity for other receptors besides the H1 receptor. Consequently, it does not produce significant anticholinergic effects (side effects caused by blocking the neurotransmitter acetylcholine).

• Store Histabil Tablet in a tightly closed container.

• Keep it in a cool place, ideally below 30°C.

• Protect the medicine from moisture and direct light.

• Always keep this medication out of reach of children.

• Ensure you use the medicine before its printed expiry date.

• If you're experiencing allergic rhinitis symptoms, try to identify and avoid allergens that trigger your symptoms. This might include dust mites, pet dander, or certain types of pollen.

• For managing urticaria or hives, stay cool as heat can worsen itching. Opt for loose, cotton clothing and avoid hot baths or showers.
