Hirepa 1 Tablet is used to help control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes when diet and exercise alone are not enough, particularly after meals. It can be used on its own or alongside metformin.

It contains repaglinide (1 mg), a meglitinide that stimulates the pancreas to release insulin in response to food. Take it with the first bite of each main meal as prescribed; if a meal is skipped, skip the dose.

A balanced diet with regular meals at set times, regular activity, keeping to a healthy weight and routine blood sugar monitoring support better control alongside this medicine.

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, do not crush or chew it.

If you skip a meal, do not take an extra dose to compensate.

Hypoglycaemia: If you feel shaky or confused after taking this medicine, immediately consume fast-acting carbohydrates like glucose tablets, sugar, honey, or sugary drinks.

Hirepa 1 Tablet contains Repaglinide (1 mg), which has the following actions on your body:

Increases Insulin Secretion: Repaglinide stimulates your pancreas to produce more insulin, which leads to lowering of blood glucose levels.
Acts on Pancreatic Beta Cells: This medicine works by closing ATP-dependent potassium channels found in pancreatic beta cells, causing them to depolarise. This action results in the opening of calcium channels.
Induces Insulin Secretion: The increase in intracellular calcium within these cells subsequently induces insulin secretion. This process is dependent on glucose levels and diminishes as blood glucose levels normalise.

Pregnancy

Breastfeeding
