Gliotem 100 Capsule 1

GLIOTEM 100 CAPSULE 1 is used for the following health conditions:

• Managing newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme in adults, when used with radiotherapy and then on its own

• Helping to manage refractory anaplastic astrocytoma in adults and children over three years old, particularly when the condition has progressed after initial therapy

Here's how you should take your GLIOTEM 100 CAPSULE 1:

• Swallow the capsule whole with some water

• Do not chew or crush the capsule

• Always take this medicine on an empty stomach, either one hour before eating or two hours after a meal

• Make sure to consult your doctor for more specific instructions on how to take this medicine

GLIOTEM 100 CAPSULE 1 is taken orally.

GLIOTEM 100 CAPSULE 1 contains Temozolomide (100 mg), which acts on your body as follows:

• DNA Damage: The active ingredient temozolomide works by damaging the DNA of cancer cells in your brain. DNA is like a blueprint or instruction manual for cells, so when it gets damaged, it can prevent the cancer cells from growing and spreading.

• Conversion to Active Form: Temozolomide converts into its active form, MTIC, at physiological pH levels inside the body. MTIC then interferes with the genetic material (DNA and RNA) of rapidly dividing cancer cells, causing their death.

• Store your GLIOTEM 100 CAPSULE 1 at room temperature (15-30°C).

• Keep it in a tightly closed container to protect it from moisture and light.

• Always keep this medicine out of reach of children.

• Remember to use the capsules before their expiry date.

• Engage in regular gentle exercises, such as walking or yoga, to help manage fatigue and weakness associated with brain tumours. However, do listen to your body and rest when needed.

• Maintain a balanced diet high in protein and fibre to help combat loss of appetite and constipation that can occur when taking GLIOTEM 100 CAPSULE 1. Foods like lentils, chicken, and whole grains are good options.
