Genticyn Injection is used for bacterial blood infections (septicemia), meningitis, urinary tract infections (UTIs), respiratory tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, severe skin infections, bone and joint infections, and endocarditis.

Genticyn Injection is administered either intravenously or via an intramuscular route.

Genticyn Injection contains the following components:

• Gentamicin (80 mg): Gentamicin acts by blocking protein creation in bacteria. It attaches itself firmly to bacterial ribosomes, interrupting the translation process, which builds proteins. The incorrect proteins resulting from this disrupted process impair the function of bacterial cells, leading to their death. This makes Gentamicin bactericidal. It actively kills bacteria rather than just stopping their growth.
• Methyl Paraben (0.18 %): This component acts as a preservative for the gentamicin.
• Propyl Paraben (0.02 %): This component also acts as a preservative for the gentamicin as well.

• Store Genticyn Injection in a cool, dry place.
• Keep it away from direct light.
• Ensure the injection is kept out of reach of children.
• Always check the expiry date before use and do not use the injection if expired.

• If you are dealing with a urinary tract infection (UTI), increase your water intake. This helps flush out the bacteria causing the infection.
• For respiratory tract infections like pneumonia, avoid smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke. This can worsen your symptoms and slow down recovery.
