Emsita Gm 50/1/500 Tablet 10 is a diabetes medicine used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when blood sugar is not controlled with one or two other diabetes medicines. It is a combination medicine containing sitagliptin (which raises insulin release when blood sugar is high), metformin (which reduces sugar made by the liver) and glimepiride (which stimulates the pancreas to release insulin), and belongs to classes of medicines called DPP-4 inhibitors, biguanides and sulfonylureas.
This medicine works by combining three actions that together lower blood sugar: more insulin is released, the liver makes less sugar and the body responds better to insulin. Take it with meals as prescribed and swallow the tablet whole. Keep taking it regularly even when you feel well.
Eating regular, balanced meals with controlled carbohydrates, staying active and keeping to a healthy weight can help this medicine control blood sugar better. Avoid alcohol.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, are due to have an X-ray scan using contrast dye, or take other medicines. It is not recommended for severe kidney problems or for people under 18. Eat meals at regular times and seek medical advice if you notice sweating, shakiness or confusion (low blood sugar).
