Elocon Ointment 10Gm

Elocon Ointment is used for the topical relief of inflammatory skin conditions characterised by redness, swelling, and itching.

Uses of Elocon Ointment are:

• Eczema and Dermatitis: Reduces skin inflammation, swelling, and severe itching.
• Psoriasis Management: Helps control red, scaling patches and local inflammation on the skin.

• Ensure the affected skin area is clean and dry before applying the ointment.
• Apply a thin layer of the ointment to the affected area as directed by your doctor.
• Gently massage the ointment into your skin until it is fully absorbed.
• Do not cover.
• Avoid applying this ointment on your face, underarms, or groin unless instructed by your doctor.
• After application, wash your hands thoroughly unless they are in the area being treated.
• Remember to consult your doctor for any specific advice related to its use.

Elocon Ointment is applied topically.

Elocon Ointment contains Mometasone Furoate (1 mg), which works in the body as follows:

• Inducing Lipocortins: Mometasone stimulates the production of proteins known as lipocortins, which are essential for regulating inflammation. These proteins work by inhibiting the release of specific inflammatory mediators, including prostaglandins and leukotrienes.
• Reducing Inflammation: By promoting the formation of lipocortins, mometasone effectively diminishes inflammation at the cellular level, aiding in the management of various symptoms associated with skin disorders, such as redness, swelling, and itching.

• Store Elocon Ointment at room temperature, ideally below 30°C.
• Keep it away from direct heat and moisture to maintain its effectiveness.
• Always ensure the tube is tightly closed when not in use to prevent air exposure.
• Keep this medication out of reach for children's safety reasons.
• Remember to check the expiry date before use and discard any expired ointment.

• If you are managing conditions like psoriasis or eczema with Elocon Ointment, try to include omega-3 fatty acids in your diet. Fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts are rich sources of omega-3, which can support skin health.
• Consider wearing cotton or soft fabrics to avoid irritating your skin. Synthetic fabrics or wool can worsen symptoms like itching and discomfort associated with these skin conditions.

• Use as directed by your doctor for best results.
• Wash your hands before applying the ointment.
• Apply a thin layer and gently massage into the skin.
• Avoid covering the treated area with a bandage.
• Use regularly, but do not exceed the prescribed amount or duration.
• If no improvement after 2 weeks, consult your doctor.
