Dutard 0.5 Tablet 10 is used in the management of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). It provides symptomatic relief in such patients by relieving lower urinary tract symptoms such as difficulty in urination, dribbling of urine, weak stream of urine, and incomplete emptying of the bladder.
Directions for Use of Dutard 0.5 Tablet 10
- Take Dutard 0.5 Tablet 10 with a glass of water.
- Swallow the tablet as a whole; do not crush or chew it.
- This medication should be taken preferably with meals.
- It is recommended that this medicine be taken at a fixed daily time.
Route of Administration
Dutard 0.5 Tablet 10 should be taken orally.
Side Effects of Dutard 0.5 Tablet 10
Dutard 0.5 Tablet 10 may cause diarrhoea, dizziness, stuffy nose, headache, or nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the nose and pharynx). If these symptoms persist, contact your healthcare provider.
Managing the Side Effects:

- Dutasteride (0.5 mg): It is a 5 alpha-reductase inhibitor that works by inhibition of both type 1 and 2 of 5-alpha reductase. It is responsible for the conversion of testosterone to 5-alpha dihydrotestosterone. It is responsible for the initial development and subsequent enlargement of the prostate gland.
