Composition

Dutasteride (0.5 Mg)

Nduta Tablet 10 is used to manage the signs and symptoms of Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or enlarged prostate. It belongs to the category of selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonists.

It also provides relief from lower urinary tract symptoms like dribbling, urinary retention, etc, associated with Benign Prostatic hyperplasia, which helps improve the quality of life of such patients. It does not cure the disease but provides efficient symptomatic relief.

Inform your doctor about any pre-existing diseases, allergies and the medicines you take. Your doctor will carefully review and decide regarding the dosage and frequency of use of this medicine. In case of any persistent or worsening side effects, seek medical advice.

Nduta Tablet 10 is used in the management of:

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia: It provides symptomatic relief in such patients by relieving lower urinary tract symptoms such as difficulty in urination, dribbling of urine, weak stream of urine, and incomplete emptying of the bladder.

Take Nduta Tablet 10 with a glass of water.
Swallow the tablet as a whole; do not crush or chew it.
This medication should be taken preferably with meals.
It is recommended that this medicine be taken at a fixed daily time.

Nduta Tablet 10 should be taken orally.

The side effects of Nduta Tablet 10 include:

Diarrhoea
Dizziness
Stuffy nose or runny nose
Headache
Nasopharyngitis (Inflammation of the Nose and Pharynx)

Managing the Side Effects:

Some side effects are temporary and harmless, and get resolved by discontinuing the tablet. These may not require medical attention. To combat gastrointestinal side effects, take this tablet with food. If you experience any severe or persistent side effects due to this tablet, consult your doctor.

Nduta Tablet 10 contains the following component:

Dutasteride (0.5 mg): It is a 5 alpha-reductase inhibitor that works by inhibition of both type 1 and 2 of 5-alpha reductase. It is responsible for the conversion of testosterone to 5-alpha dihydrotestosterone. It is responsible for the initial development and subsequent enlargement of the prostate gland.

Avoid alcohol consumption while on this medicine as it can aggravate the orthostatic hypotension caused by this medicine.

Liver

Nduta Tablet 10 should not be given to patients with severe liver disease or impairment. Dose adjustment is needed for mild to moderate liver disease after consultation with a doctor.

Kidney

Nduta Tablet 10 should not be given to patients with severe kidney disease or impairment. Dose adjustment is needed for mild to moderate kidney disease after consultation with a doctor.

Using Machines & Driving

Nduta Tablet 10 can cause postural hypotension and dizziness, which can impair driving and machine operating capability. Refrain from such activities while you are taking this medication.

Allergy

If you are allergic to this medicine or any of its constituents, then do not take it.

Children

Nduta Tablet 10 is not indicated for use in paediatric patients (<18 years of age)

Older Patients

Nduta Tablet 10 is to be used with caution in elderly patients with liver or kidney disease as they usually need dose adjustment after consultation from a doctor.

Drug-Drug Interactions

Nduta Tablet 10 can interact with the following medicines:

Antifungals like itraconazole and ketoconazole should not be taken with this medicine as they may increase its effect.
Blood pressure-lowering medicines like verapamil and diltiazem can aggravate orthostatic hypotension caused by this medicine.
Antivirals like ritonavir decrease the metabolism of this medicine and increase its effects and side effects.
Immune-suppressing medicines like cyclosporine should not be given with this medicine.
Antibiotics like clarithromycin and erythromycin- should not be used with this medicine.
Erectile dysfunction medicines like tadalafil and sildenafil (PDE-5 inhibitors) increase the side effects, such as orthostatic hypotension, dizziness, etc.

Drug-Food Interactions

Nduta Tablet 10 interacts with high-fat or moderate-calorie meals as its consumption can reduce the plasma concentration of this medicine and thus reduce its effect.

Drug-Disease Interactions

Nduta Tablet 10 interacts with the following diseases:

Severe kidney diseases: This medicine can aggravate the disease.
Severe liver diseases: This tablet can worsen the disease.

Daily Dose

The daily dose of Nduta Tablet 10 should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. The dosage may change based on individual factors such as the severity of the condition and response to treatment. It is important to follow the prescribed dosage and not exceed it without consulting your doctor.

Over Dose

If you or someone else takes an excessive amount of this medicine by accident, inform your doctor immediately and follow their advice. The overdose symptoms of this medicine include dizziness, fainting, lightheadedness and blurred vision. Be vigilant and do not ignore these symptoms.

Missed Dose

If you forget to take this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. However avoid repeating the dose.

Reduce the intake of substances that increase diuresis, like coffee and alcohol.

Get your PSA (Prostate-specific antigen) levels checked regularly to rule out the development of cancer in the prostate gland as well as to document improvement in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia.
