Composition

Brimonidine (0.2 %) + Brinzolamide (1 %)

Duo 2 Eye Drops 5ml is used to manage open-angle glaucoma. It is a combination antiglaucoma medicine containing brimonidine and brinzolamide.

This medicine reduces intraocular pressure to help prevent optic nerve damage and gradual vision loss, and also lowers elevated pressure inside the eye in people with high fluid pressure without nerve damage. Shake the bottle well, use it as prescribed and keep the dropper tip clean.

Attending your regular eye pressure checks can support treatment alongside this medicine.

Tell your doctor about any sulfa allergy, kidney or liver problems, heart problems or other eye drops you use. Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.

Duo 2 Eye Drops 5ml are used to lower raised eye pressure in adults with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension, helping protect the optic nerve and preserve sight.

Uses of Duo 2 Eye Drops 5ml are:

Open-Angle Glaucoma: Lowers eye pressure to help prevent optic nerve damage and vision loss.
Ocular Hypertension: Lowers elevated eye pressure before damage occurs.

Use Duo 2 Eye Drops 5ml as follows:

Shake the bottle well before use.
Tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
Hold the dropper above your eye and squeeze out one drop.
Close your eye gently and press your finger to the inside corner of your eye for about 1 minute to prevent the liquid from draining into your tear duct.
If you need to use another drop or a different type of eye medication, wait for at least 5 minutes before putting it.
Always remember to consult with your doctor for more specific instructions.

Duo 2 Eye Drops 5ml are instilled topically.

Duo 2 Eye Drops 5ml may cause some side effects that are usually mild and go away as your body adjusts to the medicine.

Duo 2 Eye Drops 5ml contains the following components:

Brimonidine (0.2%): As an alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist, brimonidine reduces IOP by decreasing aqueous humour production and increasing uveoscleral outflow. This dual mechanism makes it an efficient ocular hypotensive agent.
Brinzolamide (1%): Brinzolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that reduces IOP by decreasing aqueous humour secretion. It works by selectively inhibiting the carbonic anhydrase II enzyme in the ciliary epithelium, which ultimately reduces bicarbonate ion formation and aqueous humour production.
Benzalkonium Chloride (0.02%): This ingredient acts as an antimicrobial preservative in the eye drops. It prevents microbial growth and contamination in the multi-dose container, ensuring the sterility of the solution.

Pregnancy

Caution is advised while using Duo 2 Eye Drops 5ml if you are pregnant. It is recommended to consult your doctor before using this medicine.

Breastfeeding

If you are breastfeeding, you should be cautious while using Duo 2 Eye Drops 5ml. Inform your doctor before these drops are prescribed to you.

Alcohol

CNS Depressants: Medicines such as diazepam or alprazolam may enhance the central nervous system effects of the brimonidine component in Duo 2 Eye Drops 5ml, possibly leading to increased drowsiness or sedation.
Antihypertensives/Cardiac Glycosides: Concomitant use with antihypertensives or cardiac glycosides such as digoxin may potentiate hypotension or bradycardia due to additive cardiovascular effects.
Tricyclic Antidepressants: Medicines such as amitriptyline may interfere with the intraocular pressure-lowering effect of brimonidine in Duo 2 Eye Drops 5ml, potentially reducing its efficacy.
