Diamicron XR 60 Tablet is used to manage blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It contains gliclazide, a sulfonylurea that helps the pancreas release more insulin and improves how the body responds to insulin, helping control high glucose levels.
This is an extended-release tablet designed to give steady blood sugar control through the day. Swallow it whole with a meal; do not crush or chew it. Take it as prescribed and continue even if your blood sugar readings look normal, as ongoing treatment helps prevent long-term complications.
Following a controlled carbohydrate intake, eating meals at regular times, staying physically active and maintaining a healthy weight help keep blood sugar levels steady alongside this medicine. Carry a source of fast-acting sugar with you in case of low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia).
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems, or are taking other medicines. Do not skip meals after taking this tablet, as this can cause low blood sugar. Report sweating, shakiness, confusion or a fast heartbeat, which may signal hypoglycaemia. This medicine is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
