• Amlodipine (5 mg): As a calcium channel blocker, amlodipine halts the influx of calcium ions into certain muscle cells in your heart and blood vessels. This action leads to relaxed arterial muscles, widening your blood vessels, and reducing the overall resistance against which your heart has to pump, thereby lowering your blood pressure.
• Indapamide (1.5 mg): This thiazide-like diuretic works mainly by reducing the reabsorption of salt and water in parts of your kidneys known as distal convoluted tubules. By making you excrete more sodium, chloride, and water via urine, it lowers the volume of fluids in your bloodstream and helps reduce the load on your heart. Additionally, indapamide causes blood vessels to widen by promoting production of compounds called prostaglandins in vascular smooth muscle cells – another action that contributes towards lowering your blood pressure.
