Cortimax-6 Tablet is used to treat inflammatory conditions, allergies and autoimmune disorders, such as asthma, arthritis and severe allergies, and to help maintain muscle strength in Duchenne muscular dystrophy. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing deflazacort, and belongs to a class of medicines called corticosteroids.
This medicine reduces inflammation and calms an overactive immune system. Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day. The dose must be reduced gradually when stopping, under medical guidance. Use the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Eating a balanced diet with limited salt and enough calcium and vitamin D, and staying active as advised by your doctor, can help reduce some effects of longer steroid use.
Tell your doctor about any infection, diabetes or long-term steroid use before starting this medicine, and about any other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Report signs of infection, rapid weight gain or mood changes, and report any side effects that persist or become serious. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly or unless your doctor advises you to do so.
