Clavam BID Dry Syrup is used to treat common childhood bacterial infections, such as painful ear infections, throat infections (tonsillitis), and lung infections (bronchitis). It is a "gold-standard" choice for infections that might be resistant to plain penicillin, ensuring that children recover quickly from fever and localized pain.
This medication contains Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid. Amoxicillin is a powerful antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing them from forming their cell walls. Clavulanic Acid acts as a "shield," stopping bacteria from producing enzymes that would otherwise destroy the Amoxicillin. This team effort allows the medicine to work against a wider variety of "tougher" germs.
The syrup must be prepared by adding sterile water as directed and should be stored in the refrigerator after mixing. Important: Shake well before each use and complete the entire 5 to 7-day course, even if your child feels better after 24 hours. Consult your doctor if the child develops a widespread skin rash or severe diarrhea.
