Calcigard-10 Retard Tablet is used to manage high blood pressure and to prevent the chest pain of angina. Controlling blood pressure helps lower the long-term risk of heart attack and stroke.
It contains nifedipine, a calcium channel blocker, in a slow-release form. It works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow to the heart.
Swallow the tablet whole with water as prescribed, without crushing or chewing it, at a regular time each day. Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice, which can affect how the medicine works.
Tell your doctor about any heart failure, liver problems or very low blood pressure before use, and do not stop it suddenly. Report ankle swelling or ongoing dizziness.
