Cabgolin 0.25 Tablet is a medicine used to treat conditions caused by high levels of prolactin, a hormone produced by the pituitary gland. In women, elevated prolactin can lead to unwanted breast milk production, irregular or missed menstrual periods, and difficulty conceiving. In men, it can cause enlarged breast tissue and decreased sexual drive. It is also prescribed to help shrink non-cancerous pituitary tumours (prolactinomas).
It contains cabergoline, which belongs to a group of medicines known as dopamine agonists. It works by stimulating dopamine receptors in the pituitary gland, which signals the body to reduce prolactin production. This tablet is typically taken only once or twice a week, with or without food. Follow your doctor's exact schedule carefully.
Maintaining regular follow-up appointments is essential while on this medicine. Your doctor may monitor your heart function and hormone levels periodically to ensure safe and effective long-term treatment.
Before starting Cabgolin 0.25 Tablet, inform your doctor if you have a history of heart valve disease, high blood pressure, liver disease, or fibrotic (scarring) disorders. It is not recommended during pregnancy unless explicitly advised by your doctor. Seek medical attention if you experience severe dizziness, fainting, or chest discomfort.
