This medicine works by blocking the effects of histamine and leukotrienes, the natural chemicals that cause a runny nose, sneezing and watery, itchy eyes when your child meets allergens such as pollen, pet dander or insects. It also helps control airway inflammation to prevent asthma symptoms in children with a history of asthma. Give it by mouth exactly as your child's doctor prescribes.
Keeping your child away from known triggers such as pollen, pet dander and dust can help the medicine work better. Avoid giving grapefruit juice with it, as it may interfere with how well it works.
Before giving this medicine, tell your child's doctor if your child has liver or kidney problems, a history of mental health issues, or any allergy to its ingredients, and mention all other medicines your child takes. This medicine is intended for children aged 6 to 11 years as prescribed by a doctor. Contact your child's doctor if you notice unusual changes in mood or behaviour.
