Betafree Eye Drops are used to lower raised pressure inside the eye in adults with glaucoma or high eye pressure (ocular hypertension). They are a combination medicine containing brimonidine and brinzolamide, and belong to the classes of alpha-2 agonists and carbonic anhydrase inhibitors.
This medicine is used when a single eye drop does not give enough pressure control. Keeping eye pressure under control helps protect the optic nerve and reduces the risk of vision loss. It is for use in the eye only. Wash your hands first, shake the bottle well, put the drops into the affected eye without touching the dropper tip, and remove contact lenses before use. Use the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Attending all eye clinic follow-up appointments for regular eye pressure monitoring is an important part of glaucoma management alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any kidney problems, a history of sulfonamide allergy or any planned eye surgery before using this medicine, and about any other eye medicines, supplements or herbal products you use. Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tell your doctor if your vision changes or if eye symptoms worsen, and report any side effects that persist or become serious. Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
