Betabrim Eye Drops 5Ml

Betabrim Eye Drops are used for the following:

• Reducing elevated pressure in the eye

• Managing open-angle glaucoma

• Treating ocular hypertension

• Controlling intraocular pressure when single medicines fail

• Supporting patients requiring adjunctive therapy

Follow these instructions while using Betabrim Eye Drops:

• Wash your hands thoroughly before applying the eye drops.

• Tilt your head back and pull your lower eyelid down gently.

• Hold the bottle close to your eye without touching it.

• Apply one drop into the affected eye(s) as directed.

• Close your eyes gently for 1 to 2 minutes after application.

• Press your finger against the inner corner of your eye for about a minute.

• If using more than one eye medicine, wait at least 5 minutes between applications.

• Replace the cap tightly after use to prevent contamination.

Betabrim Eye Drops are instilled topically.

Betabrim Eye Drops contain three components that work together to reduce pressure inside the eye:

• Brimonidine (0.2%): This is an alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that works in two ways - it reduces the production of aqueous humour (the clear fluid in your eye) and increases the drainage of this fluid through the uveoscleral pathway (a secondary drainage route in your eye).

• Timolol (0.5%): As a beta-adrenergic blocking agent, timolol decreases the production of aqueous humour by inhibiting an enzyme called adenylate cyclase in the ciliary epithelium (the tissue that produces eye fluid), resulting in lower eye pressure.

• Benzalkonium Chloride (0.02%): Serves as a preservative that prevents bacterial contamination of the eye drop solution, helping to maintain the sterility of the medicine during its use.

• Store at room temperature.

• Protect from light exposure.

• Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.

• Store out of reach of children.

• Check the expiry date before use and discard if expired.

• Discard any remaining solution four weeks after first opening the bottle.

• Maintain a healthy blood pressure by reducing sodium intake, as high blood pressure can worsen glaucoma and increase intraocular pressure (pressure inside your eye).

• Consider limiting caffeine intake, as it can temporarily increase intraocular pressure (eye pressure) in some people with glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
