Bactrim Suspension 50ml

Bactrim Suspension is prescribed for treating urinary tract infections, ear infections, acute bronchitis, shigellosis, pneumonia (Pneumocystis jirovecii), and traveler's diarrhea. It is effective against a range of bacterial infections and is particularly useful for patients with weakened immune systems.

To give Bactrim Suspension to your child, follow these guidelines:

• Shake the bottle well before use.

• Measure out the prescribed amount using a spoon or cup.

• Give the medicine exactly as advised by your child's doctor.

Bactrim Suspension is given orally.

Bactrim Suspension contains two active ingredients that work together to fight against bacteria:

• Trimethoprim (40 mg): This ingredient blocks the production of tetrahydrofolic acid from dihydrofolic acid by binding to and reversibly inhibiting the bacterial enzyme dihydrofolate reductase. Tetrahydrofolic acid is crucial in forming nucleic acids and proteins needed by bacteria.

• Sulfamethoxazole (200 mg): This component inhibits the bacterial synthesis of dihydrofolic acid by competing with para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA). Dihydrofolic acid is essential for the survival and multiplication of bacteria.

  Together, these two components provide effective antibacterial activity against a wide spectrum of pathogens

• Store Bactrim Suspension at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C.

• Keep it away from excessive light and moisture.

• Ensure that the bottle is tightly closed after every use.

• Always keep this medicine out of the reach and sight of children. 

• Use Bactrim Suspension before its expiry date. Check the packaging for details.

• To aid your child's recovery from urinary tract infections, encourage them to drink plenty of fluids, such as water or unsweetened fruit juice. This helps flush out bacteria from their system.

• If your child is suffering from diarrhoea caused by a bacterial infection, try to provide a balanced diet with sufficient fibre to help recovery of their digestive system. Foods such as rice, potatoes, and bananas might be easier on their stomach.
