Septran Paediatric Suspension is used in children to treat bacterial infections.

Uses of Septran Paediatric Suspension are:

• Respiratory Infections: Treats pneumonia, bronchitis and sinusitis.

• Ear and Urinary Infections: Manages otitis media and urinary tract infections.

• Skin and Gut Infections: Treats skin infections and certain gut infections.

• Administer Septran Paediatric Suspension as per your doctor's instructions.
• Shake the bottle well before each use to evenly mix the suspension.
• Use a measuring cup provided with the product to measure the required quantity accurately.
• Give the medication one hour before or two hours after meals.
• If your child experiences stomach upset, give them the syrup with food.
• Do not double dose if it is time for the next scheduled dose.

This medicine is taken orally.

Septran Paediatric Suspension contains two active ingredients: sulphamethoxazole and trimethoprim.

• Sulphamethoxazole and trimethoprim work together to block the production of essential vitamins that bacteria need for growth and survival.
• By inhibiting this production process, these ingredients help to reduce the severity of bacterial infections.
• Sulphamethoxazole targets certain enzymes involved in folate synthesis in bacteria.
• Trimethoprim acts by inhibiting another enzyme called dihydrofolate reductase.
• These actions disrupt the bacteria's ability to produce DNA and proteins necessary for their survival.
• Ultimately, this leads to a decrease in bacterial growth and an improvement in symptoms associated with the infection.

• Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids to help flush out bacteria from their system.
• Offer a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.

• Avoid giving your child sugary or fatty foods, as they can weaken the immune system and make it harder for the body to fight infections.
