CompositionAzilide-500 Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, ears, nose, throat and skin. It is also prescribed for certain sexually transmitted infections and community-acquired pneumonia, helping clear the infection and relieve symptoms such as fever, cough and localised pain.
It contains azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic. Take it as prescribed, with or without food, usually as a short course. Complete the full course of treatment even if you start to feel better, as stopping early can allow the infection to return and contributes to antibiotic resistance.
Taking this medicine at least one hour before or two hours after antacids helps ensure it is absorbed properly. Drinking plenty of fluids and getting adequate rest also support your body's recovery while the infection clears.
Tell your doctor if you have any history of liver disease, heart rhythm disorders or a known allergy to macrolide antibiotics before starting treatment. Report severe or watery diarrhoea, an irregular heartbeat, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash or swelling, to your doctor promptly.
