CompositionAvacard 5 Tablet 10 is used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) and to relieve and prevent chest pain (angina). It is a single-ingredient medicine containing amlodipine, from a group of medicines called calcium channel blockers.
Keeping blood pressure under control and improving blood flow to the heart helps lower the risk of heart attack and stroke. This medicine works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily and the heart does not have to work as hard. It is usually taken at the same time each day. Continue taking it even if you feel well, and do not stop it without medical advice.
Healthy lifestyle changes support treatment alongside this medicine. These include reducing salt in your diet, staying physically active, maintaining a healthy weight and limiting alcohol.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problems or other medicines you take, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Mild swelling of the ankles, flushing or headache can occur, especially at first, and usually settles. Tell your doctor if ankle swelling becomes troublesome.
