Augpen 625 BID Tablet is used to treat moderate to severe bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, ear, sinuses, urinary tract, and skin. It is effective in cases where bacteria have developed resistance to ordinary penicillin antibiotics.
It contains amoxicillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic that kills bacteria by disrupting their cell wall formation, and clavulanic acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor that blocks the enzymes bacteria use to break down amoxicillin, making the combination effective against resistant strains.
Take the tablet at the start of a meal to reduce stomach side effects and improve absorption. Complete the full course as prescribed, even if you feel better before finishing, to prevent the infection from returning.
Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea are the most common effects and usually settle with continued use. Tell your doctor if you have a known penicillin allergy, liver problems, or a history of antibiotic-associated colitis.
