Arasid 500 MG Injection is used for the following:

• Treatment of acute myeloid leukaemia

• Used as part of combination chemotherapy for the treatment of acute lymphocytic leukaemia

• Therapy for chronic myeloid leukaemia during blast crisis in cases where first-line therapies such as tyrosine kinase inhibitors are ineffective or contraindicated

• Treatment of lymphomatous meningitis

• Management of blood cancer as part of combination therapy

• Control of malignant cell proliferation in bone marrow

• Treatment of cancer affecting lymphocytes

• Management of cancer cells in protective brain membranes

• Treatment of leptomeningeal carcinomatosis or lymphomatous meningitis

Arasid 500 MG Injection is administered intravenously, subcutaneously, or intrathecally.

Arasid 500 MG Injection contains cytarabine (500 mg), which works on the body in the following ways:

• Interferes with DNA synthesis: Cytarabine converts to an active form called cytarabine triphosphate inside cells, which blocks the normal process of DNA creation during cell division.

• Targets rapidly dividing cells: The medicine specifically affects cells during their S-phase of division, when DNA replication occurs most actively, making it particularly effective against cancer cells.

• Causes chain termination: By incorporating itself into growing DNA strands, cytarabine prevents successful cell division, stopping cancer cells from multiplying.

• Selective toxicity: This medicine works more effectively against leukaemic cells because they typically divide more rapidly than normal cells in your body.

• Store Arasid 500 MG Injection in a refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C.

• Keep the vials protected from light to prevent degradation.

• It should be used immediately after reconstitution

• Maintain cold chain integrity during transportation and storage.

• Store in designated areas away from children's access.

• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.

• During cancer treatment with Arasid 500 MG Injection, follow strict food hygiene practices to reduce infection risk while your white blood cell count (immune cells) is low. Wash all fruits and vegetables thoroughly and avoid raw or undercooked foods.

• Consume a protein-rich diet that includes foods like eggs, lentils, and fish to help support your body's recovery process during chemotherapy, as blood cancers and their treatment can lead to muscle weakness.
