Amlong-H Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults when a single medicine is not enough. It is a combination medicine containing amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, and hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic (water tablet).
Amlodipine relaxes and widens the blood vessels, while hydrochlorothiazide helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water. Together they lower blood pressure more than either medicine alone, reducing long-term strain on the heart, brain and kidneys. Take it once a day, preferably in the morning, with or without food, and continue even when you feel well.
Reducing salt, staying active, keeping a healthy weight and limiting alcohol support blood pressure control. Protect your skin from strong sunlight.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, heart failure, gout, diabetes, lupus, low sodium or potassium, a sulfa medicine allergy, or a history of skin cancer, and about other medicines you take, especially lithium and painkillers. Your doctor will check your blood salts and kidney function. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if you have marked dizziness or fainting, muscle cramps, extreme thirst, marked ankle swelling, or sudden eye pain or reduced vision. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
