Alsita-M 100 Tablet is taken orally.

This medicine consists of two components:

• Metformin (500 mg): This biguanide antidiabetic agent works by reducing the production of glucose in your liver and decreasing its absorption in your intestines. It also enhances your body's sensitivity towards insulin, allowing it to use glucose more effectively.

• Sitagliptin (100 mg): As a DPP-4 inhibitor, Sitagliptin functions by increasing the levels of certain hormones known as incretins. These hormones are released after a meal and help improve insulin synthesis and release from your pancreas, while also reducing glucose production by your liver.

Together, these components work synergistically to provide better control of blood sugar levels, especially in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Their combined action also lowers the risk of weight gain and hypoglycaemia, which are common side effects associated with other diabetes medications.
