• Absorption and Excretion: The citrate ions get absorbed into the bloodstream and are eventually excreted in the urine.
• Alkalinising Effect: In the urinary tract, the citrate ions combine with hydrogen ions, effectively raising the pH level of urine.
• Inhibits Bacterial Growth: The raised pH level of urine creates an unfavourable environment for bacteria that cause UTIs, thereby inhibiting their growth.
