Vomito MD Tablet is used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy and radiotherapy. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing ondansetron, which belongs to a class of medicines called 5-HT3 receptor antagonists (anti-sickness medicines).
This medicine is also used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting after surgery. It is a mouth-dissolving tablet, which is helpful for people who find it hard to swallow. Place the tablet on your tongue and let it dissolve, then swallow; you do not need water. Take it at the times and in the dose prescribed by your doctor, often before chemotherapy or surgery.
Eating small, bland meals, sipping fluids slowly through the day, and avoiding strong smells, greasy food and lying flat straight after eating can help reduce nausea.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have a heart rhythm problem, low potassium or magnesium, liver disease, or a bowel blockage, and about all other medicines you take. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if you notice a fast or irregular heartbeat, fainting, severe constipation or stomach pain. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
