Valance OD 250 Tablet is used to treat epilepsy and control various types of seizures. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing divalproex sodium in a once-daily prolonged-release form, and belongs to a class of medicines called anti-epileptics.
This medicine is also used to treat manic episodes in bipolar disorder and to help prevent migraine headaches. It works by stabilising electrical activity in the brain and regulating brain chemical levels, helping to maintain neurological balance and prevent recurrent episodes. Swallow the tablet whole without crushing or chewing it. Use the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
A regular sleep pattern, avoiding alcohol and reducing stress where possible help support seizure control alongside this medicine. For migraines, identifying and avoiding your personal triggers also helps.
Tell your doctor about any liver disease or bleeding problems before starting this medicine, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. This medicine can harm an unborn baby, so effective contraception is essential, and you should tell your doctor at once if you could be pregnant. Speak to your doctor before use if you are breastfeeding. Report any side effects that persist or become serious. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly or unless your doctor advises you to do so, as this can cause seizures or other symptoms to return.
