UDCA-300 Tablet is used to dissolve cholesterol-based gallstones in people who cannot have surgery, to manage primary biliary cholangitis (an autoimmune liver condition), and to help manage liver disease in children with cystic fibrosis. It may also be used to relieve itching caused by bile acids building up in pregnancy.
It contains ursodeoxycholic acid, a bile acid that reduces cholesterol in bile and protects liver cells. Take it with food or milk at a fixed time each day as prescribed. Dissolving gallstones can take months to years, so continue taking the medicine even without symptoms.
A balanced diet, avoiding rapid weight changes, and keeping to a healthy weight support gallbladder and liver health alongside this medicine. Regular liver function tests and ultrasound scans may be needed to check progress.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any liver or gallbladder problems or frequent diarrhoea. Antacids can reduce the absorption of this medicine, so avoid taking them at the same time. Speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
