Tresiba FlexTouch Pen is used in adults, adolescents and children aged 1 year and above to manage type 1 and type 2 diabetes, providing stable, long-acting blood sugar control throughout the day.

Uses of Tresiba FlexTouch Pen are:

• Type 1 Diabetes: Provides long-acting basal insulin, often combined with rapid-acting insulin at mealtimes.
• Type 2 Diabetes: Used alone or with other diabetes medicines to control blood sugar levels.
• Stable Glucose Control: Offers a steady, once-daily glucose-lowering effect to help prevent high blood sugar.

To administer Tresiba FlexTouch Pen properly:

• Inject the medicine under the skin (subcutaneously) once a day

• Try to administer the injection around the same time every day

• Ensure you have been trained on the correct injection technique

• Change (rotate) your injection sites within the area you chose with each dose to reduce your chance of getting lipohypertrophy (pits in skin or thickened skin) and localized cutaneous amyloidosis (skin with lumps) at the injection sites.

Tresiba FlexTouch Pen is administered subcutaneously, i.e., under the skin.'

Tresiba FlexTouch Pen contains insulin degludec (100 IU), which works on the body as follows:

• Mimics Body's Insulin: Insulin degludec works by imitating the action of insulin naturally produced in the body. It attaches itself to insulin receptors on cells, facilitating the intake of glucose from the bloodstream into tissues such as muscle, fat, and liver. This helps lower blood sugar levels and prevents hyperglycemia.

• Forms Soluble Multi-hexamers: The unique molecular structure of insulin degludec enables it to create soluble multi-hexamers upon subcutaneous injection. This forms a depot from which insulin degludec is slowly and continuously absorbed into the circulation, providing a flat and stable glucose-lowering effect.

• Store your unopened Tresiba FlexTouch Pen in the fridge, between 2°C and 8°C.

• Do not freeze or expose to heat above 30°C.

• After first use, store at room temperature, below 30°C or in the fridge for up to 8 weeks.

• Avoid direct sunlight and keep away from children.

• Ensure you use it before the expiry date on the packaging.

• Since Tresiba FlexTouch Pen helps manage diabetes, ensure you follow a well-balanced diet low in sugar and high in fibre. This helps control blood sugar levels.

• Regular physical activity is also essential. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise like brisk walking or cycling every day. This helps your body use insulin more effectively.
