Saferet 20 Tablet is primarily used for managing severe cystic acne not responsive to other treatments. It belongs to a class of medicines known as retinoids, derivatives of vitamin A, and contains isotretinoin.
Isotretinoin works by significantly reducing oil (sebum) production in the skin, shrinking the oil glands, and reducing inflammation, which together help clear severe nodular acne over a course of treatment lasting several months.
Take this tablet with food, exactly as your doctor prescribes, and attend all follow-up appointments and blood tests arranged during treatment to monitor your liver function and blood fat levels.
This medicine must not be used in pregnancy, as it carries a very high risk of severe birth defects; women of childbearing potential must use effective contraception before, during and for a month after treatment, and regular pregnancy tests will be arranged. Tell your doctor if you notice low mood, thoughts of self-harm, or severe headache with visual disturbance.
