Plavix Tablet is used to prevent blood clots from forming in patients who have recently had a heart attack or stroke, or who have peripheral artery disease. By keeping the blood flowing smoothly, it significantly reduces the risk of another serious cardiovascular event. This medication is a life-saving therapy for individuals with narrowed or hardened arteries (atherosclerosis).
This treatment contains Clopidogrel, an antiplatelet medication. It works by preventing platelets (a type of blood cell) from sticking together to form a clot. Unlike "blood thinners" that act on clotting factors, Clopidogrel specifically targets the platelets' ability to clump, ensuring that blood can travel through stents or narrowed vessels without blockage.
This tablet should be taken at the same time every day, with or without food. Because this medication makes it harder for your blood to clot, you may bruise more easily or take longer to stop bleeding from a cut. Consult your healthcare provider immediately if you notice blood in your urine or stool, or if you have a scheduled surgery, as you may need to stop the medicine temporarily.
