CompositionPhensedyl DX Syrup is a medicine used to suppress cough and relieve symptoms of upper respiratory tract infections and common cold. It contains dextromethorphan, a cough suppressant that reduces the cough reflex.
Take it as prescribed, usually with a spoon. Do not dilute with water. Take it as directed without exceeding the recommended dose. Continue taking it for the recommended duration. Do not stop taking it abruptly without consulting your doctor.
Staying hydrated and using steam inhalation can help ease cough and respiratory symptoms. Drink plenty of water and warm fluids such as tea or warm lemon with honey; use a humidifier or steam inhalation to keep airways moist; rest adequately; avoid dry environments; and avoid smoke and air pollution which can worsen cough.
Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have asthma, liver or kidney disease, depression, or are taking other medicines, especially antidepressants. Inform your doctor if cough persists for more than one week or if you cough up blood or greenish phlegm. This medicine may cause drowsiness; avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.
