Ondansetron (4 Mg)

Ondar 4 Mg Syrup 30 Ml is used in children to treat nausea and vomiting caused by conditions such as gastroenteritis and to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with certain medical treatments or postoperative recovery. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing ondansetron, a serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist antiemetic.

This medicine is also used to help prevent vomiting caused by stomach infections, medicines or procedures where children may experience nausea. Consult your child's doctor to determine the appropriate dose and duration for your child's condition.

Before using this medicine, inform your child's doctor about any pre-existing medical conditions or other medicines your child may be taking. Give this medicine for the full prescribed duration for the best results.

Uses of Ondar 4 Mg Syrup 30 Ml are:

Gastroenteritis: Treats nausea and vomiting associated with this stomach infection.
Post-operative Nausea: Prevents vomiting after surgical procedures in children.
Medication-related Nausea: Manages nausea and vomiting associated with certain medicines or treatments.

Shake the bottle well before use.
Measure the prescribed dose using a measuring cup, dropper, or spoon.
Give this syrup orally to the child as advised by the doctor.
It may be given with or without food.
Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Ensure the bottle is tightly closed after use.
This medicine is sugar-based and needs caution for use in diabetic patients. If your child has diabetes, consult the doctor before giving this medicine.

Drug-Drug Interactions

Ondar 4 Mg Syrup 30 Ml may interact with the following medicines:

Anti-epileptic medicines such as phenytoin or carbamazepine: These medicines may increase the breakdown of ondansetron in the liver, which can reduce its effectiveness in controlling nausea and vomiting.
Antibiotics such as erythromycin: Concurrent use may increase the risk of QT interval prolongation and abnormal heart rhythms, especially in children with underlying cardiac conditions or electrolyte imbalance.
Other medicines affecting heart rhythm, such as amiodarone: Using these medicines together may increase the risk of serious irregular heartbeat due to additive effects on cardiac conduction.
Serotonergic medicines such as fluoxetine or sertraline: Concomitant use may increase serotonin levels and rarely lead to serotonin syndrome, which may present with agitation, sweating, tremors, rapid heartbeat, or confusion.
