Oflokem Eye/ear Drops 10ml is used to treat bacterial infections of the eye and ear caused by susceptible bacteria. It is a combination medicine containing ofloxacin and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC). It belongs to the classes of medications called fluoroquinolone antibiotics and lubricants.
This medicine is used for bacterial eye infections such as conjunctivitis, keratitis and corneal ulcers, as well as susceptible bacterial infections of the external ear. When used in the eye, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose forms a lubricating protective layer over the ocular surface, helping maintain moisture and reduce dryness and irritation, while ofloxacin kills susceptible bacteria responsible for the infection.
Use this medicine in the affected eye or ear exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye, ear, fingers or other surfaces to prevent contamination. Contact lenses should generally be avoided during an active eye infection unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Complete the full course of treatment prescribed by your doctor, even if your symptoms improve earlier. This medicine does not treat viral or fungal infections. Stop using it and seek medical advice if you develop a severe allergic reaction. Consult your doctor if the infection worsens, does not improve, or you develop significant eye pain, swelling or changes in vision.
