Nitrocontin 2.6 CR Tablet is used for the long-term prevention of chronic stable angina in adults with coronary artery disease.

Uses of Nitrocontin 2.6 CR Tablet are:

• Angina Prevention:Helps prevent the chest pain of chronic stable angina.
• Long-Term Prevention of Angina:Helps reduce the need for physical activity restrictions by preventing angina episodes.
• Frequency Reduction:Reduces how often and how severely angina episodes occur.

Follow these instructions while taking Nitrocontin 2.6 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
• Avoid crushing or chewing the tablet.
• Do not adjust your dose or stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor.
• Try to take your doses at the same times each day to maintain consistent levels of the medicine in your body.

Nitrocontin 2.6 Tablet is taken orally.

Nitrocontin 2.6 Tablet contains nitroglycerin (2.6 mg), which acts on your body through specific mechanisms:

• Conversion into Nitric Oxide: Glyceryl trinitrate converts into nitric oxide (NO) in the smooth muscles of your blood vessels.
• Activation of Guanylate Cyclase: The produced nitric oxide activates an enzyme called guanylate cyclase in these muscles.
• Production of cGMP: Activated guanylate cyclase results in increased levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP).
• Relaxation and Dilation of Blood Vessels: The increased cGMP causes relaxation and dilation of the vascular smooth muscle, including in the coronary arteries that supply your heart muscle.
• Reduced Cardiac Workload: Vessel dilation increases blood flow to the heart and reduces cardiac workload and oxygen demand, thereby effectively managing angina.

• Keep Nitrocontin 2.6 Tablet at room temperature, ideally between 15-30°C.
• Shield from light and moisture; avoid refrigeration or freezing.
• Position it out of reach of children and pets.
• Ensure you utilise the medicine before its expiry date.
